23 things I've Learned at 23.

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

Hi guys, hope you all are doing good because I've been doing great as it was my birthday last week. It was my 23rd birthday, and I was so overwhelmed looking at my life journey. Even though I strongly believe that life hold much more for me in the future but I cannot deny how much it has taught me all this year.

1. You are going to mess up things :- honestly nobody is going to be perfect no matter how hard one tries and you don't have to be prefect at all times. It's okay to make mistake just laugh about it and move on.

2. Foods make you feel good :- I mean I don't even have to emphasize on this, having a bad mood just have some chocolate or cheese burst pizza.

3. Parents are always right :- I used to hate and fight my mom for not liking my certain friends & I remember she telling me that they ain't good for me. Guess what she was right. Parents never guide or tell you anything which will sabotage your future or present.

4. Skincare is important :- I know we all have this busy life where we don't even have time to do certain things but trust me when I say “SKINCARE IS IMPORTANT THAN MAKEUP” the early you start doing it the more you'll thank yourself later.

5. Stop feeling guilty about everything :- You don't have to be productive all the time, I used to stress myself out over trying to make everyone happy. I have come to realize, that it is literally impossible to please everyone and that I will go crazy trying to do so.

6. Start what you love :- it's never too late to do the thing that you love, take a step n live your passion.

7. You don't need a partner to be depended on for your Happiness :- This implies on everyone, learn to enjoy your own company.

8. Do stuff which makes you happy :- Eat, do art, Go on ride, follow your passion or just sit back, relax and Netflix.

9. Learn a new skill :- You never know what might help or make you grow more. Learning a new skill will only make better and upgrade you.

10. Self-love, accept yourself :- I can't talk or write enough about loving yourself. It is the most prior thing in life. If you love yourself and accept who you are, trust me my friend there is no turning back.

11. Relationship over everything :- Work can wait and work will also be there. Instead, work on building your relationship more and prioritize it.

12. Everything happens for a reason.:- I am a firm believer in this quote. It can be hard to see the reasoning when something goes wrong, but I know that God has a plan and something better will come along.

13. Kindness goes along the way :- You never know what someone is going through and how much a simple kind gesture can help them.

14. Work on your fears & insecurity :- All these years I was bullied for having a brown complexion it made me feel sick about myself, I was scared to even face a camera but I worked on it and now there is no stopping for me.

15. Don't be too humble :- I know this might sound rude to some but it's a harsh reality. In times, you have to show people how they should treat you. Have your self-respect and self-esteem.

16. Buy yourself a gift :- You deserve pampering and little attention from yourself, what better way to do that than treating yourself with some spa day or some gifts which you like. And don't forget to get surprised ;)

17. Music can fix everything :- Every mood can be fixed through music. Dance out crazy in front of the mirror. You'll love it.

18. Remove failure from your vocabulary :- instead call it as a learning experience or a lesson which taught you something and work on things that didn't work out.

19. Embarrass yourself & laugh it off :- ok this one is genuinely important, you have to let loose the strings. Embrace the embarrassment.

20. Time is valuable:- We do not have unlimited amount of time, therefore don’t waste time.

21. Trying living life like a kid, Be creative imaginative, Always down to learn something new, proactive.

22. Let things go :- Sometimes the best way to be happy is by letting go of things you tried hard to hold on to that are no longer good for you.

23. Listen to podcast :- Podcasts aren't only good entertainment, but also great education. The time you'd normally spend doing those mindless chores or exercising can be used to help you prepare for the next phase of your career. There are a ton of shows out there that teach you about specific fields of study and career paths.

Love, Hazel Joseph
